Michael Pearce - Class Of 1981

Micheal passed away on May 3, 2010, in Hawaii, of organ failure.  He is survived by his wife Lori.  He was 47 years old.

Michael Kent Pearce graduated from UC Davis in 1986 with a BS in Genetics.  He took time off after college to travel around Europe with high school friend Michael Gavette (also Fremont High class of 1981) and then started work at DNAX Research Institute in September.  He married his college sweetheart, Lori, in November 1986.  In 1991, Michael was accepted by the University of Washington Graduate Immunology Program and moved with Lori to Seattle, Washington.  He received a Masters in Immunology and spent a number of years teaching at various community colleges around Seattle.  Michael also did volunteer work at the Seattle Aquarium and participated in various scholarship committees. Michael and Lori learned to scuba dive in 1991 and traveled all over the world including Papua New Guinea, Palau, Fiji, Australia, Mexico, Bonaire, Caymans, Turks and Caicos, and Belize. Michael was passionate about Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror and had a large collection of first edition books.  He was also an avid gamer and played all the latest gaming platforms.

 

Lori retired from Microsoft at the end of 2007 and then Michael and Lori moved to Waikoloa, Hawaii at the end of 2008.

 

Michael is survived by his wife of 23 years, Lori, his sisters (April) Chantelle and Angela, and his mother Rita and father Kent and his dog Kai.
