RIP Dave Gusti

Dave was a legend from North Syracue/ Mattydale . Pitched for the  Pittsburg Pirates and Houston. I remember having MR. Gusti as a substitute Gym teacher at North Syracuse High School.  Loved playing vollyball against him.  Great guy. Great athlete. Great pitcher.  you will be missed !!!

I remember having Dave Gusti as a sub gym teacher but I thought it was at Roxboro.

I think he would sub during the off season. How times have changed!

Hi John - saw this in the Sunday paper. Judy & I were friends who lost touch in their 30's. Tried a few times to reconnect, but sadly it never happened.

(sorry I couldn't turn it around. )

I heard through the Oneida Lake Coconut Telegraph that Pat Bukolt has passed away.

Sad news and I am sure many people will have great memories of him!

Sad to hear that Pat passed away.  We ran around together, reeking havoc on NS and Cicero during high school.  In 1971, I joined the Air Force (with Karl [Fred} Snyder) and I was really surprised whtn Pat and I crossed paths shortly after I returned from the Philippines to Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton. Pat was assigned to a mobile unit that set up temporary posts wherever needed.  He was getting ready to ship out and asked me if I could drive his new Chevy Vega to Syracuse to pass it along to his sister.  He was always fun to hang with.  He will be missed.

Yes, Pat will certainly be missed. I first met Pat in 7th grade at Gillette Rd Middle school we were in 9th grade together with Mrs Hart. He was a jokester if I remember correctly. He was also in some of my other classes at North Syracuse High & Cicero High. He's one of my classmates I fondly remember
May he RIP

It's sad another one of our classmates gone.

Joe Chiarizia has passed away.

Joe was always the friendliest and classiest guy in the room. Very soft spoken but also smart!

RIP Joe!

Bill Monroe and I shared a birthday so we both had the same draft lottery number.  It was a high number but Bill enlisted anyway to serve his country.  I had many good times with BIll during high school and after he completed his tour of duty.  I always enjoyed seeing he and his wife JoAnn at Borios through the years. RIP Bill.

Hope everyone can find a special way to celebrate Memorial Day!

I still remember the large Lions Day parade through the Village of North Syracuse.

We would go up early am to Main Street and set up chairs early for the parade. Usually watched it in front of Bowling Green Bowling center!

Memorial Day serves as a solemn occasion to mourn and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States. Memorial Day is marked by visiting cemeteries and memorials, placing flags, flowers, and wreaths on the graves of fallen soldiers, and participating in parades, speeches, and ceremonies across the country.

Memorial Day has also become associated with barbecues, family gatherings, and the unofficial start of summer, its primary purpose remains a day of reflection and tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the United States.

I'm like most people. I think of the fun stuff first..the barbecues and family gathering. Don't forget to take a few minutes to reflect on the dead soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen who gave their lives for the United States.

The former Castaways is now - 916 Riverside, located at 916 County Rte 37 in Central Square, NY - in case anyone did not know and may be interested in attending the Cicero 1970's class reunion on July 10, 2026.
